Farewell to Gomer
My dad has always kept a spaniel or two. In the 1950's and 60's they were Cockers; then he switched to Springers. Smart, funny, loyal, joyous dogs, every one of them - fine hunters, too - and they each ADORED my dad.
"Gomer" was the latest in this long line of terrific dogs. He was only five years old when he died after being hit by a car. My sister's kids were very attached to Gomer, and we decided to give him a proper funeral and burial.
On the way home from the "service," my little 5-year-old niece turned to me in tears, sobbing that she would probably forget Gomer, because she (in her words) "can never remember anything for even a WEEK!" Brianna, this video is for you, and for Tommy and Griffin, and for Grandpa.
Love,
Aunt Laurie
